GUILDHALL.
EXAMINATION OF A BANKRUPT BEFORE HIS CREDITORS, COURT OF KINGS BENCH.
Attractive etching and aquatint on paper by Rowlandson & Pugin, produced to accompany Ackermann's "Microcosm of London" originally published 1808-10. The prints were published in monthly parts and exhibited the highest craftsmanship and finest materials. Pugin was responsible in main for the background and architecture whilst Rowlandson, a skilled caricaturist, animated the scenes with his detailed and lively figures. The atmosphere of early 19th century London is captured perfectly. Dated in the plate. An excellent example.
