LEICESTER BOTH SHYRE AND CITIE DESCRIBED.
Scarce and highly decorative copper line engraving on paper originally produced to accompany John Speed's "The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine" published in 1611. The present map comes from the Bassett and Chiswell edition of 1676. A very desirable map of the county with royal arms, elaborate scale bar and compass rose. There is also a inset town plan of Leicester and a vignette of the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.
