SWITZERLAND
A highly decorative map of Switzerland published by John Tallis, probably one of the best known map-makers and publishers of the 19th Century. The maps were published circa 1850 and are considered to be the last series of decorative maps of the world. Contained within an elaborate border the maps are generally decorated with vignettes and scenes depicting particular scenes and local inhabitants. The present map of "Switzerland" has various vignette views. The map was drawn and engraved by John Rapkin while the illustrations are drawn by A. H. Wray and engraved by J. B. Allen.
Measures approx. 250 x 320 mm. Excellent condition.
