WALES – CAERMARDEN BY JOHN SPEED. BASSETT AND CHISWELL 1676.

CAERMARDEN BOTH SHYRE AND TOWNE DESCRIBED. 

Scarce and highly decorative copper line engraving on paper originally produced to accompany John Speed's "The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine" published in 1611. The present map comes from  the Bassett and Chiswell edition of 1676. A very desirable map of the county with royal arms, elaborate scale bar and compass rose. There is also a inset town plan of Caermarden. A nice example.

Measures 380 x 510 mm. Good condition. see photo.
