WORCESTERSHIRE BY JOHN SPEED. BASSETT AND CHISWELL 1676.

WORCESTERSHIRE DESCRIBED. 

Scarce and highly decorative copper line engraving on paper originally produced to accompany John Speed's "The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine" published in 1611. The present map comes from  the Bassett and Chiswell edition of 1676. A very desirable map of the county with shields, elaborate scale bar and compass rose. There is also a inset town plan of Worcester and a vignette of the Battle of Evesham in 1265.

Measures 380 x 510 mm. Good condition. see photo. Some unobtrusive staining at lower margins.
